The Mayor of Niagara Falls says the province is moving forward on a critical piece of the healthcare puzzle in Niagara.
Mayor Jim Diodati commenting following the announcement that the Ontario government is reaffirming plans for a new south Niagara hospital.
Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, was at the building site today to announce that the construction of the Niagara Falls Hospital is moving forward.
The hospital,will be built at the corner of Lyons Creek and Montrose.
The hospital, being called 'The Niagara Falls Hospital' will include access to emergency and urgent care, laboratory services, ambulatory clinics, and full diagnostics including MRI, CT scans, ultrasounds and X-rays.
A timeline for construction was not mentioned.
Hoskins also commenting that the Welland hospital will remain open for patients and families in Niagara.
He says the hospital's services will be finalized as the planning process for the new hospital moves forward.
