A crossing guard from St.Catharines says life will be a little more comfortable after winning $500,000.
Glenn Wicks of St. Catharines took a spin on The Big Spin Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto with his girlfriend and nephew cheering him on.
The 56 year old says he purchased his ticket on his way home from donating blood – something he does every few months.
“I stopped at Avondale after getting off the bus and decided to buy a BIG SPIN ticket because I had heard of a number of winners with this game.”
When the machine froze, Wicks knew he won big. “When the retailer couldn't pay my prize, I knew I won more than $1,000. When I found out that I won the chance to spin THE BIG SPIN Wheel, I was excited.”
The crossing guard had a hard time convincing his girlfriend of his windfall. “She didn’t believe it until we arrived at the OLG Prize Centre to start the claim process and sign all the paperwork,” he laughed.
Glenn, a local Lions Club member, plans on doing some home renovations with his winnings. “This money will make everyday life a little more comfortable”.
The winning ticket was purchased at Avondale on Welland Avenue in St. Catharines.
Glenn Wicks will join CKTB's Tim Denis tomorrow morning at 7:20am .
