A former top Ontario political aide will be sentenced on April 11th after being convicted of illegal use of a computer in connection with the province's gas plants scandal.
The date was set today during a court appearance by David Livingston, where former premier Dalton McGuinty's chief of staff apologized to his family and colleagues for the anguish he has put them through.
During a sentencing hearing yesterday, the Crown said he wilfully thwarted democratic accountability by destroying potentially embarrassing documents about the Liberal government's costly decision to cancel two gas plants before the 2011 provincial election.
The prosecution called for a six-month jail term while the defence urged a conditional discharge.
