It won't be easy to recover three bodies inside a home in Port Colborne that was gutted by fire this morning.
Crews have had to stand down since flames were put out at around 7 this morning.
37 year old Tammy Burd her two children, a 2 year old boy named Joshua and 15 year old girl named Sam are still unaccounted for.
The children's 83 year old great grandmother was pulled from the home but pronounced dead on scene.
Fire fighters discovered her body very close to the front door.
Two men escaped the blaze.
It's believed the 37 year old woman's common law husband, and her brother were able to get out.
The 37 year old woman's aunt, Liz Winger, rushed to the area when she heard the news.
She says the children were so adorable, the little boy was so happy, and the 15 year old was in high school.
Winger says it's unbelievable that this has happened.
An emotional Fire Chief Thomas Cartwright says ``it's difficult to know why this happens.''
Crews are now waiting for some much-needed assistance.
A heavy equipment operator has been called in.
Fire Marshall Ross Nichols says his office has worked with the operator in the past.
Nichols also saying the weather is making the situation difficult, with snow squalls now hitting south Niagara.
Snow is expected to end around midnight, but may drop up to 15 centimetres on the area.
The fire on Nickel Street broke out early this morning.
Firefighters were called to the modest two-storey home around 1:20 a.m.
