Scientists are warning Canada could experience 10 times more deadly heat waves as our country heats up twice as fast as the rest of the world.
A report from Environment and Climate Change Canada paints a grim future, warning the effects of the warming climate would be irreversible as Canada experiences more winter rainfall, droughts through the summer, and an increased risk of wildfires.
The document, entitled Canada's Changing Climate Report, also states coastal flooding is expected to increase in many areas of Canada due to the rise of local sea levels.
The release of the report yesterday coincided with the implementation of the federal Liberal government's carbon tax on provinces that have failed to develop their own plans to fight climate change.
