Are they Japanese hornets or cicada killers? That is the debate raging among insect experts over a nest found at a baseball diamond in Port Colborne.
George Scott from Niagara Beeway who was called in to remove the nest insists the bugs are Japanese Hornets.
"The solitary bee that's the friendly bee that eats the cicada you can see it on Youtube isn't stung, our beekeepers now are getting stung and we're losing man-days."
But on social media, other experts from across the country have started weighing in and insist they are the less aggressive cicada killers.
Whatever the bug is, the City of Port Colborne says it has reopened the park now that the insects have been removed.
