A heads up if you park downtown St.Catharines at the Carlisle Street/Garden Park Parking Garage.
City staff saying it will close temporarily on Labour Day weekend for regular maintenance.
Earlier this month, the City began closing the parking garage on weekends to replace its waterproof membrane, a thin rubberized coating on the concrete that gets worn away due to regular vehicle traffic and needs to be replaced every few years.
However, the contractor has determined that the new coating needs more than two days to cure, and as a result, the Carlisle Street/Garden Park Parking Garage will now be closed only on the Labour Day weekend from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The parking garage will no longer close on weekends in August.
Because of the nature of the work, all vehicles must be out of the parking garage at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1.
Membrane work produces dust and debris and any vehicle left in the garage is done so at the owner’s risk.
Vehicles that must stay in the garage for the weekend should be moved to the top floor by their owner by 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1.
