The Ontario PCs are calling on the premier to halt a mega million dollar casino deal.
In a release, the party says the deal with Great Canadian Gaming, to build a casino complex at Woodbine Racetrack should be halted pending the results of a sweeping police probe into money laundering at the company's British Columbia casino.
PC Finance Critic Vic Fedeli says “There is a storm cloud hanging over this bad deal. Internal government documents have revealed links to terrorist financing, while organized crime allegedly laundered hundreds of millions of dollars in hockey bags full of cash through the B.C. casino."
Fedeli asks “And what has the Kathleen Wynne government done? They’ve given the casino operator a lucrative new deal in Toronto.”
The PC's are pointing fingers at Finance Minister Charles Sousa who recently denied being aware of the investigation into Great Canadian.
But the party notes, it was just over a week ago, news broke the head of the OPP branch at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is “reaching out to investigators in British Columbia about the money laundering investigation that implicated Great Canadian Gaming.”
Great Canadian officials have denied any wrongdoing.
