Stephen Dhillon made 56 saves as the IceDogs were edged 3-2 by Mississauga on home ice. Forty-one of those stops came in the second and third period as the Dogs held a 2-1 lead.
Johnny Corneil got the scoring underway in the second on a slick three way passing play with Ben Jones and Chris Paquette. Akil Thomas counted his 11th on the power play a short time later. Ryan Mantha and Drew Hunter recorded assists. The Steelheads replied with a an advantage goal of their own late in the middle period and tied the score with the net empty and under 90 second left in regulation time.
The winner came 31 seconds into overtime. The IceDogs now enjoy six days off before a Friday night game in Oshawa. 610 CKTB will have the pre-game, starting at 7pm.
