The Director of Research for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls will be speaking at Brock University.
Dr. Karine Duhamel will be at the school tomorrow to talk about her work with the inquiry and what she has been doing since the report came out.
Appearing on One Dish One Mic, Duhamel said there is 'an undercurrent in Canadian society that allows violence to happen.'
"There continues to be a lot of racism and underlying stereotypes and general dehumanization of Indigenous women and girls that makes people think somehow that they're not going to be prosecuted or that people aren't going to investigate. And really that's a fundamental fabric that needs to be changed."
The free public lecture called, 'I am here for justice and I am here for change' will take place tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at the Pond Inlet.
