Many residents in west Niagara spent the weekend discussing the location for a new 'mega' high school.
The District school Board of Niagara voted to close high schools in Grimsby, Beamsville and Smithville and replace it with one large school.
Last week the board unveiled the location.
The board has purchased 20 acres of land that sits on the border of Lincoln and Grimsby on Durham Road and King Street.
The exact location is 4670 Durham road and the school is proposed to front onto King.
A meeting will be held tomorrow night to ratify the decision.
Local MPP Sam Oosterhoff tells CKTB the location isn't ideal given the fact that the area continues to see a lot of growth.
"I worry about the capacity in the future, but out of the locations that were discussed, but this is one of the better ones."
He also mentions South Lincoln high school has been closed since June of last year.
But for BDSS and GSS teachers and students, the land purchase gives them a feeling of finality.
Oosterhoff thanks the staff members of these high schools for dealing with the impact on their communities.
"It's important to recognize the important contributions that the local schools have made to the culture of these towns."
The new high school is slated to open in September of 2020 and will host 1500 students with over 60 classrooms.
The Ontario government has committed 41 million dollars to the construction of the project.
