Family doctors across the province may have to work longer hours for less pay.
The province telling a board of arbitration, tasked with ending a five year contract dispute with Ontario doctors, family physicians get paid an average of 400 thousand dollars a year for essentially working part time hours.
Some physicians argue if the province cuts their pay, it will drive many doctors out of the field and contribute to the doctor's shortage.
The board is expected to make a final decision in the spring.
Meanwhile the Ford government is expected to announce this week, the creation of a new super health agency that will oversee primary care, replacing the current local health integration networks.
