The Canadian Medical Association is not happy with the Ontario government`s move to allow employers to ask for a doctor`s note from employees to explain minor illnesses like a cold.
CMA president Dr. Gigi Osler says it could cause public health issues because sick people will go to a doctor`s office or to work, rather than staying home.
A CMA poll suggests that most working Canadians oppose the move.
The survey also finds that eight in 10 Ontarians who responded said they would likely come in to work when ill if their employer required a sick note.
