Does Welland need a neighbourhood watch program to cut down on crime?
Resident and former mayoral candidate Steven Soos tells CKTB he has been approached by fellow neighbours calling for something to be done to stop crime in the city.
He says there have been over 1000 incidents of crime over the past six months and people feel unsafe.
Soos appeared before city council asking for a pilot project to restore a community watch group in Ward 6, and he's working on developing a new logo for signs.
He says it will not be vigilantly justice, it will be community members coming together to reduce crime.
Soos next step is meeting with local business owners to gage their interest in the program.
