The Welland SPCA is reporting a beagle has died after suffering 'deep puncture wounds consistent with bites.'
The dog was found on February 15th in the King Street and Maple Grove Road area of Vineland.
Although the animal was taken to a veterinarian for treatment, it died due to complications involving the lungs.
Officials urge owners to be careful, saying the injuries appear consistent with a canine attack but they cannot determine whether the attack was by a domesticated animal, or wild canines.
The beagle's owner has not yet been identified.
