A dog in Wainfleet has tested positive for rabies.
Niagara Region Public health says in a release that they're investigating how the dog was exposed to the virus.
So far in 2019, one bat and one dog have tested positive for rabies.
In 2018, there was a total of 19 animals that tested positive for rabies: 10 raccoons, seven skunks, and two bats.
An animal may have rabies if it has increased aggression, depression, or paralysis in the face or hind legs.
