Dogs used in an alleged dog fighting ring in Chatham are getting a second chance.
The Ontario SPCA says it has worked together with a group called Dog Tales to save the dogs who were ordered euthanized.
The dogs have been under the care of the SPCA for almost two years while the case made its way through the courts.
The animal welfare agency says the dogs will be moved to Florida to take part in an enrichment program under the direction of Aimee Sadler, Director of Training and Behavior at Dogs Playing for Life.
Sadler has also agreed to take ownership of the canines.
The agency adds it is important to remember these dogs range in behaviours from extremely aggressive to unpredictable because they were bred to fight and trained to kill.
