The IceDogs took it down to the wire, coming up short 3-2 in Kingston. Aaron Haydon's 8th and Akil Thomas' 20th helped to make it close.
Haydon's goal came on the power-play in the final minute of the first, with assists going to Ondrej Machala and Oliver Castleman. The first period shots favoured Niagara 16-7.
The one goal lead stayed in place in the second until a strange bounce off the glass set-up the first Kingston goal. A tough d-zone giveaway made it 2-1, while the IceDogs had 11 of the period's 21 shots.
In the third, a questionable penalty call resulted in a Kingston power-play marker to make it 3-1. Thomas deflected a Ryan Mantha point shot to make it a one goal game but David Bell's team could come no closer.
Sunday's game now pits the IceDogs against the 67's in Ottawa with both teams tied for 7th in the east. 610 CKTB will have the call beginning with the pre-game at 1:30.
