The last time the IceDogs lost in regulation was to visiting Sudbury 5-2 on October 5th. History repeated itself as the Wolves scored a pair of power-play and empty net goals to prevail 5-2.
Kirill Maksimov notched a power-play goal at 8:59 of the first to open the scoring, with assists going to Akil Thomas and Elijah Roberts. In a period where the home team held a 14-11 shots edge, Sudbury's reply was a pair of goals in 2:27 span to take the lead late.
The only second period marker was a second straight Sudbury power-play effort, this time of the 5 on 3 variety. Shots were even at 11 in period two.
The IceDogs made a game of it in the final period as Ben Jones scored a short-handed goal at 2:41. Josh Dame pried the puck free in his own zone to spring Jones. Billy Burke's squad had a couple of chances to tie the game but it was two Sudbury empty net goals late that ended the scoring. For the game, the Dogs outshot the Wolves 41-30.
