Two first period goals in under a minute were not enough as Barrie held off the IceDogs 4-2 Thursday night. Drew Hunter and Andrew Bruder both scored their first goals in the opening twenty.
Hunter converted a feed from Josh Dame in the high slot just before the mid-way mark, while Bruder's goal was a backhand effort shortly after. A Colts power-play goal made it 2-1 after one. Two quick second period goals made is 3-2 Barrie after two and despite outshooting the Colts 15-4 in the third, the home side would count the only marker.
Colton Incze made 21 saves in goal, while Akil Thomas, the game's second star was noted for his work at both ends of the ice.
A busy IceDogs weekend continues with a home game in Beamsville at the Fleming Centre Friday night. 610 CKTB will have all the action beginning with the pre-game at 6:30.
