The IceDogs regained first place in the Central with a 6-2 win in Sudbury. The game’s first star, Colton Inzce made 29 stops while 13 different players registered at least one point.
Bradey Johnson notched his 9th of the year, 37 seconds into the contest from Adrian Carbonara and Justin MacPherson. Late in the frame, Johnny Corneil scored for the second straight night. His 14th was a glove side snapshot on an assist from Akil Thomas at 17:02. Incze was perfect in a period where the ‘Dogs were outshot 13-10.
It became a 3-0 affair 2:54 into the second on Thomas’ 14th of the year, with help from Corneil and Dan Singer. After the Wolves finally got one by Incze, the visitors put it away with two late goals. Ben Jones got his 17th on the power-play from Sam Miletic at 17:06 and Matt Philip, 46 seconds later got help from Oliver Castleman and Philip Tomasino for his 13th. 19-8 was the shot count in period two favouring the IceDogs.
The third saw Sudbury get a goal closer before Billy Constantinou fired home his 2nd with 2:03 to play on a feed from Kirill Maksimov. A full team effort saw Niagara better the home side 34-31 in shots.
With the win, Billy Burke’s team leapfrogs Barrie by a point in the Central race, while still holding a game in hand.
