Dollarama is looking to sell more items priced at $1.25 or less.
The move comes as the company tried to keep store sales growth from slowing.
Today, the Montreal-based dollar store chain saw its third-quarter comparable store sales grow 3.1 per cent compared with 4.6 per cent in the same quarter a year ago.
The comparable store sales growth for the period ended Oct. 28 was due to a 4.0 per cent increase in average transaction size, but was partially offset by a 0.9 per cent drop in the number of transactions and was impacted by a decision to strategically limit price increases in recent quarters.
Company officials say they are more committed than ever to highlight a misconception that they are no longer a dollar store, saying they have a ton of less than a dollar, a dollar and $1.25 items.'
