When it comes to the issue of drainage, Wainfleet wants to be #1.
The township has hired a new drainage Superintendent.
Jason Culp, who currently lives in Welland has worked with the city of St.Catharines for 13 years and has experience with all 3 levels of government.
“The Township is taking steps towards becoming a top ranked community in terms of drainage,” said Manager of Operations, Richard Nan. “We are very pleased to welcome Jason to our team and look forward to working with him to do just that.”
Culp says in a rural agricultural community, the proper function and maintenance of the various classes of municipal drains is critical to crop production, protecting land value, and providing effective flood control in the long term.
He says he will be working closely with residents to achieve those goals.
There are plans to hold an Open House early next spring to present the 2017 work plan, as well as a 10 year long-term forecast for drainage works in Wainfleet
