A dedicated Niagara historian is being honoured with his very own drink.
History buffs have been relying on the encyclopedic knowledge of Sherman Zavitz for 25 years as he served as the Official Historian for the city of Niagara Falls and The Niagara Parks Commission.
A bar called Local is paying homage to him with a new take on the Whiskey Sour affectionately called 'The Sherman.'
Co-owner of the bar Nathan Warriner developed the drink containing Jameson, Triple Sec, lime mix, a splash of soda water, and a teaspoon of Amarena Cherry Syrup.
The drink will be served through the rest of the month, and Warriner hopes other local establishments will also start serving 'The Sherman.'
The Niagara Falls History Museum will be hosting a public event from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. tomorrow night to commemorate Zavitz's contributions to our local history as he prepares for retirement.
