The District School Board of Niagara is spending $1 million to buy new equipment for the board's Specialist High Skills Majors programs.
The funding will reach all of the DSBN's 17 high schools across Niagara, where the board offers 58 programs in 13 different fields.
DSBN representatives say more than 68% of students enrolled in the programs graduate with a red seal, a qualification involving the completion of a practical apprenticeship and written trade test.
Some of the equipment that will be purchased includes new hoists for Transportation programs, upgraded salons for Hairstyling and Aesthetics, broadcast film equipment for Communications Technology, and 3D printers for Tech Design programs.
