The District School Board of Niagara has passed a motion to fly the Pride flag on the first Monday of June.
The Pride flag will be displayed at all DSBN schools, either flown on the flag pole or displayed in a prominent place in the school.
Schools may also display the flag throughout June, which is pride month.
Trustees Nancy Beamer and Shannon Mitchell presented the motion at the meeting on April 23.
In March, St. Catharines resident Rob Gill made a presentation to the board to for more resources for LGBT youth and for the flag to fly in June.
When he was a student, Gill says seeing the pride flag would have shown him that school was a safe space.
