The Service of Remembrance lasted about 45 minutes at the St. Catharines Cenotaph with royal guest, The Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones in attendance.
Rhys-Jones, is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment, who hosted today's ceremony along with the City of St. Catharines.
Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, arrived with the Duchess, both wearing black.
Rhys-Jones is married to Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, the youngest sibling of King Charles III.
She was in St. Catharines to crown a winner in the Wessex Cup yesterday, a military challenge held at the Lincoln and Welland Regiment.
This is the first time the Duchess of Edinburgh competition has been held in Canada, and the Lincoln and Welland Regiment team was successful in winning the challenge this year.
