A new study shows the benefits of having a university campus in our community.
A policy brief released by the Niagara Community Observatory has found Brock University and its 19,000 students have an economic impact of nearly half a billion dollars on the Niagara region every year.
It comes from the thousands of students who live in the region and spend their money here.
It also comes from hundreds of millions in capital and operational expenditures, not to mention the 4,800 part and full time employees.
Brock University President Gervan Fearon says we have to look beyond the numbers noting “There are individuals directly tied to each of those dollar values. The values reflect the outstanding work our staff, faculty, researchers, students and partners are doing in contributing to economic and community activities across the region and province.”
