The end of an era in St.Catharines as the building, in which a controversial veterinarian operated out of, is listed for sale.
Skyway Animal Hospital located at 514 Welland Ave. has been listed on MLS for $899,900.
The listing by Sarjan Rekhi of Royal Star Realty describes the building as an excellent investment opportunity featuring a commercial building and land for sale.
It says the building has a rented upper residential apartment and is perfect for many uses including a professional or medical office.
CKTB first reported today that controversial vet, Doctor Mahavir Rekhi, had closed up his practice at the building.
Rekhi was the centre of public outrage when he was caught on camera abusing animals in his care.
He closed Skyway Animal Hospital when the distributing videos surfaced in 2016.
The College of Veterinarians of Ontario ended up suspending his licence for 10 months, however that sentence was reduced and he re-opened the clinic on Welland Ave. in February 2017.
The re-opening of the clinic sparked angry protests, and vandalism to the building.
Rekhi also faced criminal charges, but those were dropped in November of 2017 when a judge was told the SPCA had launched an investigation into the vet without a formal complaint.
Today the shelves are bare, the hours of operation have been scraped off the door, and the office is listened as 'permanently closed' on Google.
