Lions, tigers, and bears - no longer welcome as pets in the City of Thorold.
The city has officially expanded animal control bylaws to include a ban on exotic animals including alligators, venomous snakes, and even ducks.
This comes following several bizarre incidents over the past few years including a traffic accident in 2013 that killed a wandering alligator and police issuing a public warning earlier this year after a group of venomous snakes, including cobras, were stolen from a home.
Exotic animals already living within the city will be grandfathered in, but they must be registered. Free registration is available through the city's website. Failing to register a prohibited animal could net the owner a $150 fine.
