After hearing a story of a Niagara couple being charged a $100 vomit fee by a local cab company CKTB News reached out to find out, if that's standard policy.
In other words you toss, you pay.
Niagara Police constable Phil Gavin says the NRP, which licenses cabs, doesn't have a policy in place but some individual taxi cab companies do.
He is also warning residents there have been complaints that some app based ride programs have been accused of overcharging clients on their credit card with a "vomit fee."
Clients have denied the claims, but have little recourse because when you order a lift from a ride hailing service you agree to terms of use, which includes a vomit fee, should you toss in the car.
Gavin adds if riders have a complaint they should consider reporting this issue to the NRPS by-law enforcement and licensing unit for us to track it.
