Niagara Regional Police confirming a serious fire in Welland in now under investigation after several improvised explosive devices were found inside a residence that went up in flames on Sunday.
The Park Street fire in Welland broke out about 1:30 yesterday afternoon.
A 41 year old male fell from the second floor window and was transported to hospital in Hamilton in criticial condition.
The fire was extinguished with approximately $200,000 dollars in damage.
During investigation, the explosives were found and neighbouring homes were evacuated until about 11 o'clock last night.
The NRP's explosive disposal unit was brought in to neutralize and remove the devices.
The scene remains under police guard.
The Ontario Fire Marshall, Welland Fire Department and Central Region Detectives Office are continuing to investigate.
