Far from over, and the issue will get louder.
Niagara-on-the-Lake resident and former councillor Paolo Miele is commenting on the Randwood Estate ruling.
Yesterday, the town released a statement from Mayor Betty Disero saying council was pleased following a court ruling that dismissed an application regarding the Estate.
Last Friday, an Ontario Superior Court ruled against the Two Sisters' application to quash the town's bylaw and notices of intention to designate Randwood under the Ontario Heritage Act.
The court also ordered Two Sisters' to pay costs to both the Town and citizen's group Save Our Rand Estate (SORE).
Miele says this issue was a battle of wits and it will continue and most likely get louder. You can hear Miele's interview by clicking here.
He says he hopes town council will understand that there are a lot of other issues that need council's attention such as safe roads and infrastructure.
Meantime, Mayor Disero says the towns legal team will determine next steps once they have a chance to fully review the court decision.
The Randwood estate is being developed by Benny Marotta of Two Sisters resorts and Solmar homes.
The developer launched the court challenge of the town's heritage designation plan back in August of 2018.
They had plans to build a six-storey hotel and convention centre with two levels of underground property.
