There seems to be a consensus out there among our area farmers, the wet weather in May was a lot better than last year's drought like conditions.
Fruit farmers say the wet weather has prevented bees from pollinating certain trees and has delayed growth but it's nothing a good douse of sunshine won't remedy.
Officials with the Ontario Tender Fruit Association say farmers should be on target to start harvesting fruit around July 17th.
Farmers also got off to a late start planting crops but short of a devastating storm, the crops should play catch up quickly.
Last year's drought resulted in a 40 percent drop in field crop yields and a 20 percent drop in the peach harvest.
