The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives' fifth annual survey of child care fees finds the cost of full-time, regulated child-care spaces has risen faster than inflation in 61 per cent of cities it reviewed.
The centre found that costs were the highest in the Greater Toronto Area and lowest in Quebec, Manitoba and P-E-I -- the three provinces that have had fixed fees for years.
But the centre's economists believe federal government policies aimed at lowering fees will lead to an overall decrease in prices for the first time in five years
