The federal government has announced a new tourism advisory council.
Minister of Tourism, Official Languages, and La Francophonie Melanie Joly was in Niagara Falls yesterday to announce the development of Canada's Tourism Strategy.
Former New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna will chair the new council comprised of business owners, entrepreneurs, and tourism operators.
The council will recommend ways to increase tourism opportunities and global competitiveness.
According to government officials, a record 14.8 million international tourists visited Canada in the first eight months of this year.
Joly has also begun a cross-Canada tour to speak with experts in the field.
