Some good news for the Port Dalhousie Piers in the federal budget.
St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle confirming the federal government will offer up 30 million dollars in funding to repair the piers.
Speaking to CKTB's Larry Fedoruk, Bittle says "there was a big committment by the government in the budget, $250 million for small craft harbours, which is the department that oversees Port Dalhousie, and at the end of the day Port Dalhousie was specifically mentioned as one of the priority projects for that money"
Mayor Walter Sendzik was thrilled with the news.
"We worked really hard with our St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle to get funds set aside for the repair of the piers which are fundamentally important to our community, we can see through the Department of Oceans and Fisheries that additional funds had been put there, and as such we are looking forward to the next step, which I think will be, we can change the signs from closed to rehabilitation."
