The federal government is planning to offer pardons to some Canadians arrested and convicted of simple marijuana possession.
According to CTV News, the pardons will be issued to people who were convicted of possession of 30 grams or less - the same amount that is legally allowed to be possessed by any one person now that recreational marijuana use has been legalized.
More details are expected to come out during a 9:15 a.m. media conference this morning.
Meanwhile the provincial government has been singing a very different tune; yesterday Ontario Attorney General Caroline Mulroney said the provincial government intends to go forward with current court cases.
