Canadians will get a better picture on how much the COVID-19 pandemic is costing the country.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the federal government will be releasing a fiscal snapshot on July 8th.
"This will not be an economic and fiscal update, it will be more of a snapshot or portrait of where we are now," he said during his daily address.
Trudeau says it will be useful for people to see the scale and details on the programs that have been introduced in response to the global pandemic so far.
The snapshot will also include comparisons to other countries and projections concerning what the coming weeks or months may look like.
Opposition parties have repeatedly called for a detailed fiscal update as the cost of support programs continues to add up.
