Millions of dollars coming from the federal government to help Niagara with affordable housing.
The feds announcing today they will invest 2.2 million dollars for the YWCA Niagara Region Oakdale Commons project in St. Catharines to fund 24 affordable units geared towards women and families.
St. Catharines Liberal MP Chris Bittle says the announcement means the YWCA will not have to sell off another one of their properties to fund the Oakdale build.
The project will house up to 24 women in need along with their children.
For 90 years, the YWCA Niagara Region has been providing essential programs and service to women and their families in the Niagara Region.
The rent on the units will be geared on a person's income, helping them reach their next step.
