The federal government is trying to help Canada's greenhouse industry flourish across the border.
St.Catharines MP Chris Bittle tells CKTB News 393-thousand dollars will be invested in Flowers Canada Growers Inc. to help the greenhouse industry export and market flowers into the United States.
Bittle says the goal is to grow the export of flowers to a 400 million dollar a year industry.
Andy Kuyvenhoven, with Flowers Canada Growers Inc. says the announcement will help will help them get the tools they need to expand their exporting business into the United States.
He says over 48-thousand people work in the greenhouse industry in Canada, with almost half of those jobs in or near the Niagara region.
Kuyvenhoven says flowers are food for the soul, and they make people are happier and healthier.
