There will be no federal bailout for the Niagara Region to help defer the ballooning cost of the Burgoyne Bridge build.
Niagara This Week reporting Ottawa has rejected a request for help with the cost ,which has doubled in price and now stands at more than $90 million.
The federal and provincial governments gave the region $18 million towards the cost of the build, based on the original pricetag.
In a letter to the region, federal officials say it is a firm policy that the government does not fund any cost overruns.
The province, meantime, has not replied to a separate request from the region for financial help with the bridge project.
