The Ford government is continuing its pledge to make it more convenient to buy booze in Ontario, and today it was announced that Fenwick and Wellandport will be able to host an LCBO outlet.
The LCBO will be establishing 200 new stores called “LCBO Convenience Outlets” in what the government calls 'under-serviced communities.'
Niagara West PC MPP Sam Ooosterhoff says two of those communities will be Fenwick in Pelham, and Wellandport in West Niagara.
Sixty of those stores are expected to open in August, with up to 150 new locations expected to be up and running by December.
The LCBO has released a Request for Proposal seeking applications from local retailers in the new communities.
The government also announced that 87 more grocery stores, will be allowed to sell beer, wine and cider as of September.
