The fire chief of a small town in northern Ontario was struck and killed by a vehicle while attending a convention in Toronto on Friday.
The mayor of Schreiber, Ont., says Pat Bourguignon was at the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs annual convention when he was struck by the vehicle during a power outage.
Mark Figliomeni says Bourguignon leaves behind his wife, two children and three grandchildren.
Figliomeni says Bourguignon was a volunteer firefighter for 34 years and served as the town's fire chief since 2009.
He says the entire town of about 1,000 people is mourning, and a funeral service is being arranged.
