Just one day after a fire in France was seen around the world, a massive blaze in Niagara's own backyard.
Black smoke could be seen coming from a blaze on the property of a winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The blaze broke out in a green house shed used for storage on the sprawling property of Colaneri Estate Winery on Concession 6 Road just after 1:30 this afternoon.
At one point, 7 fire trucks were on the scene battling the fire.
The shed, which is 30 x 50 is not attached to the winery but is very close by.
The winery which is a massive yellow/cream coloured 31,000 square foot building is a family owned and operated business.
Christine Hails tells CKTB she could see the smoke from the QEW and she followed it to the winery.
She took pictures and video of the fire saying she was on the scene before fire crews arrived.
Hails says she could hear propane tanks exploding within the shed.
She says it's heartbreaking to see a local business suffer such a loss.
No injuries have been reported.
