Neurologists from the University of Washington say a champion bull rider from British Columbia who died by suicide last January had a chronic brain condition.
The family of Ty Pozzobon had donated his brain to the university, where doctors found Pozzobon had a condition known as CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), the first confirmed case in a professional bull rider.
People diagnosed with CTE are frequently known to have suffered from mental health issues including depression and suicide, but the link between the conditions is unclear.
