A 21 year old Hamilton man charged with obstruction of justice following the murder of Yosif Al-Hasnawi has been sentenced to time served.
The sentencing comes after James Matheson pleaded guilty to the charge in August.
Yesterday, he was sentenced to 13 months behind bars but received credit for the nine months he has already spent behind bars and was placed on probation.
Court was told Matheson has been cooperating with the prosecution and is expected to be a key witness when Dale Burningsky King goes on trial for murder in the December 2017 shooting of the good samaritan.
Al-Hasnawi, a Brock University medical science student, was shot and killed while attempting to help an older gentlemen who was being accosted by two men outside a convenience store across the street from the victim's mosque.
