Water levels are rising in Niagara as rain continues to fall.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says over the last 24 hours an average of 20mm of rain has fallen.
Water levels in the local creeks and rivers are already elevated from the recent snow melt and up to an additional 20mm of rain is forecast to fall by the end of tomorrow.
Officials say water levels in the Welland River and 20 Mile Creek are currently rising but remain below critical thresholds.
Currently, the NPCA does not predict any major flooding, but localized flooding in low-lying areas is expected.
The total water level increases will depend on the amount of precipitation received over the next 24 hours.
Residents are urged to keep themselves, children and pets well away from streams and creeks.
Drivers are reminded there is an increased risk of water over roads and should not drive through any flooded roadway.
Local municipalities are advised to check for debris and ice clogging culverts, catch basins, and other storm infrastructure.
