A Flood Warning in Niagara has been downgraded to a Flood Watch.
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority saying the latest rainfall has increased the water levels in Lake Ontario by 2cm raising it from 75.86 to 75.88m.
With the passing of this system the winds have diminished and shifted to the South-West, greatly reducing the risk for wave action and storm surge.
However, Lake Ontario water levels will remain elevated and are expected to continue to rise slightly through May.
During this time residents living along Lake Ontario from Hamilton to Niagara-on-the-Lake are urged to continue to exercise caution near the lakefront and to monitor meteorological conditions, paying attention to wind direction and speed.
Winds out of the North-East are of particular concern.
