With strong winds and rain featured in today's forecast, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority is warning of the potential for flooding along the Lake Erie shoreline.
Today's wind gusts could reach 90km/hr before the winds begin to diminish tomorrow afternoon.
Officials with the NPCA say Port Colborne residents near the shoreline may see waves reach 1.6m early Tuesday morning as water levels in the lake peak. Shoreline erosion and flooding is also possible during that time.
This comes as the water levels in Lake Erie are already sitting above the long-term historical average, and are expected to stay that way into the spring.
